I just have a short & hopefully sweet post for this week. Last week was tough, but with any luck, this week will be better.
I'm definitely not finished the five books I mentioned previously as my summer TBR list, but I was thinking of some other books that I really, really liked from 20+ years ago. Re-reading a well-loved book is kinda like comfort food for my brain- and without the calories. And I could definitely use some comfort.
Anyway, like I said- short and sweet post. So without further ado, here are four horsey books worth a second (or tenth- looking at you, The Horse Whisperer) look! If you don't already have these books, they are all available on Amazon in e-book, physical copy, and audiobook.
I feel like this one is a classic. The movie was good, but the book is so, SO much better. And I need to read it again because now that I'm thinking about endings, I can't remember whether it was the movie ending I preferred or the book ending. It was a long time ago. If you like some family drama mixed in with romance, as well as characters who must overcome incredible challenges, this would be a good read for you.
I had to really look for this one, because I couldn't remember the title or really what the cover looked like (okay, I had an image in mind, but either it's the OLD version of the cover, or I was thinking of the wrong book). This is a mystery/suspense more than a romance, and while it isn't focused much on horses (from what I remember), it takes place in fancy riding stables in Florida. Apparently it's the second of two books in a series, with the first being Dark Horse. I don't remember reading Dark Horse, so I need to add that to my list, too.
The first of a two book series, Flying Changes was Sara Gruen's NaNoWriMo project. I can't quite remember SPECIFICALLY why I enjoyed this book so much, because again, it's been a long time since I read it. But there's romance and horses, and mother-daughter drama, and a family farm that needs saving. I'm really looking forward to reading it again, actually. And since it may be a while before I can grab my copy back from my parents' house, I may even get the Kindle version 😅
This is the second of the two book series by Sara Gruen. It may also have started out as a NaNoWriMo project as well, but I can't remember. It seems really fitting that I keep seeing a meme about normalizing loving books- but not being able to remember anything about them. Again, there's romance, although this time it's more about keeping the romance alive as opposed to finding it, as well as more mother-daughter drama.
